Giving Thanks

Posted by – November 25, 2010

I wanted to jump on here and shoot out a post for the holiday.
Short and Sweet…

Wherever you are, whoever you’re with, whatever you do… I hope you all have an enjoyable and safe holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Day of Thanks

Posted by – November 25, 2009

Last year on Thanksgiving Day I was sitting alone in a hotel room in Houston eating leftovers from the Thanksgiving dinner we’d had at work the day before.  I missed my family but I knew I had much to be thankful for:  an income, semi-good health, a home, and my family back home.

A person can easily become depressed and dwell on those things he (or she) doesn’t have.  If you’re reading this, you (like me) are probably in better shape than many this year.  On Thanksgiving Day try to focus on those things you DO have instead of those you don’t.  I guarantee it will make things a little brighter.

For me, this year I have no income and no potential prospects but I’m in much better health, I still have a home, and I will be spending Thanksgiving Day with my family.   Yep, I still have a lot to be thankful for.  (Lots of free food is one of them.)  Anyway…

I hope you don’t mind that I used the same graphic as last year but that little guy cracks me up…
Stay safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

By the way, I didn’t really care to make a new post for Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales since last years’ post still applies.  If you want to check it out, go here.

What are You Thankful For?

This is the first Thanksgiving I can remember that I won’t be home or with my family.  Instead, I’ll be sitting in my hotel room (in my sweats) enjoying a movie, maybe a little of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and leftovers from the Thanksgiving dinner we had at work on Tuesday.

Don’t worry, it’s all good.  When I consider all the folks that are currently homeless, jobless, broke, ill, and/or without any living relatives, I have a lot to be thankful for.  Although this hasn’t been the greatest year for me, I do have a great family (miss you all), good friends, a roof over my head, food in my belly, a job, and (of course) high-speed internet.  LOL!

In case you’re wondering, I’ll still be dreaming of my favorite Thanksgiving items:  Smoked Turkey, Pernil (Puerto Rican recipe for garlic, spiced pork), home-made stuffing, sweet potato casserole (grandma’s recipe which I actually eat as dessert), green bean casserole, mashed potatoes with gravy, and an icy cold Dr. Pepper.  Mmmm!
Wherever you are, whoever you’re with, whatever you do… I hope you all have an enjoyable and safe Holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
