START MENU ITEMS
Some of the items you'll see on the original start menu besides Programs, Log Off, and Shut Off are as follows:

My Documents - This is the folder set up for you on your hard drive where you can save the files and folders you create.

My Pictures - This folder, like My Documents, is set up for you as a place to save any photos.

My Music - Same as above but for music files.

My Computer - Opens a menu to show what drives are available on your computer.  Here you can click on your drives to get information on storage space and also take a look at all files and folders on a particular drive.

My Network Places - Opens a menu to reveal drives available if you have a home network.

Control Panel - (under Settings in the Classic menu)  Opens a menu where you can change settings, add and delete Windows components, and customize different Windows components.  (We'll discuss the control panel later in this section.)

Set Program Access and Defaults - Opens a menu where you can specify default programs for certain activities.

Connect To - (under Settings in the Classic menu)  Provides you with a quick link to connect to available internet connections.

Help and Support - Opens the Windows Help and Support Center where you can click on a topic (or use the Search box and type in a topic) you want help on.

Search - Opens a search utility where you can search for a particular file or types of files on your computer.

Run - Opens a box where you can type in a command or program name to run.
